Society of Petroleum Enggineers or Hasanuddin University SPE Student Chapter has organized a Mini-workshop on April 27th 2019 at Building Science Faculty of Mathematics and science of Nature. Mini-workshops were originally started with the introduction of Hasanuddin University SPE Student Chapter to the participants of the Mini-workshop.

Mini-workshop attended by students of the Department of Geophysics, University of Hasanuddin of force in 2016, 2017 and 2018. A bit of knowledge about the “students can also invest” and “investment is saving,” performed by Arasy Az-Zariat Throne which is a SPE President Balikpapan Section and also a Reservoir Engineer at Pertamina Hulu Mahakam.

He presents the material about how students can prepare themselves in financial management, of course, by way of “saving” the other words in addition to managing finances by way of “spare money”, students can invest finances early on. He revealed that he brought this case because the viewing experience itself that was once heavily dependent on the credit card that is in fact very good to be a habit. Therefore, by bringing the matter like this, he hopes students are now able to further improve themselves in financial management well to the needs of the future can be better guaranteed.

Of course it is very appreciated by the students who attend the mini-workshop with the same expectations with what is expected by Mas Throne.

A field trip for Indonesian Tectonic courses was held on April 28, 2019 in the Bantimala rock complex, Tondong Tallasa District, Pangkajene and Islands, South Sulawesi. This field trip was intended to observe and identify the tectonic processes that had occurred in Bantimala. It was found that the Bantimala complex which was dominated by Chert indicated that in this area in long time ago is a deep sea which experienced an uplift during the spreading of the Makassar Strait. This field trip participant is a 2017 batch geophysical student and accompanied directly by a lecturer in Indonesian Tectonic courses, Dr. Muh. Altin Massinai, MT. Surv., and several practice assistants led by Laode Armin. After this field trip, students are expected to know what tectonic processes have occurred and what rock material is in Bantimala, then it will be written in the sketches in the field and lab reports on campus.

A total of three journals in the University of Hasanuddin (Unhas) were again accredited by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA). Based on the Director General’s Decree on Strengthening Research and Development of Education and Culture Research Number 10/E/ KPT/2019 concerning Period of II Scientific Journal Accreditation Rankings In 2019, there were three new journals entered.

The three scientific journals were published by Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, with namely the Jurnal Matematika, Statistika, dan Komputasi, and Jurnal Geocelebes. Each has a rank four of SINTA. Jurnal Biologi Makassar (BIOMA) have ranks six of SINTA. In the previous period, Unhas had 11 accredited journals. If in total for now, the number of SINTA accredited journals has reached 14.

This was stated, Head of Publication Management Center (PMC) Hasanuddin University, Muh Arsyad PhD. He explained that he was given the mandate to encourage accreditation of scientific journals in the environment of Hasanuddin University.

“Until 2018, there are only 4 journals in Unhas that are accredited. Even though we have 74 journals spread throughout the study programs. We carry out various strategic approaches to encourage the accreditation of this journal. Alhamdulillah, there are now 14 journals of SINTA accredited,” Arsyad said through his release on Friday (4/12/2019).

He further said the steps taken by PMC Hasanuddin University were to implement standardized administrative requirements for accreditation and also encourage indexation. These two indicators are equally important. “Every journal is required to fulfill administrative requirements. So that, it can be proposed for accreditation. In addition, considering that currently the journals have been based online, indexation is equally important,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu MA really welcomed the achievement of accreditation of this journal. She hopes that the SINTA accredited journals will being in every faculty. This is due to the importance of journals for the development of science.

“Every lecturer is obliged to research. The results of the research must be published, of course through scientific journals. The quality of a journal is seen from how many articles in the journal are cited or quoted by other authors and researchers. That is so importance of accredited journals,” said Prof. Dwia.

This time, all of 16 faculty in Hasanuddin University already have scientific journals. However, for now only nine faculties have scientific journals of SINTA accredited. Its known that the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education has launched SINTA since 2017.

SINTA is a portal that contains performance measurement of Science and Technology which includes the performance of researchers, writers, journal performance and institutional performance to encourage the culture of scientific publications.

To carry out for this mandate, SINTA published of assessment results on domestic published journals categorized in 6 rankings, namely Sinta 1 (for the best) to Sinta 6. The ranking results were announced regularly. (*)

On 4 – 7 April 2019 a field lecture was held which compulsory subject offered to 6th semester students of the Department of Geophysics. The field lecture was held at Panrangluhu Beach, Bira Village, Bulukumba. This lecture is a review of all practicums that have been held since 2nd semester to 6th such as geoelectric practicum, seismic refraction, mapping, current, wave, tide, sediment trap and air humidity. In the field, the practitioners were accompanied by a number of assistants led by Iswar Edis Saputra and attended by lecturers from the Department of Geophysics. Practical activities begin on April 4, 2019 by installing a sediment trap and continuing the next day until April 7 in the morning. Every night there is assistance to find out what things are done by the practitioner for that day.

On March 29 – 31, 2019, a field trip was held for the Basic Geology course. This field trip is located at the Field Campus of Geological Engineering, Hasanuddin University, located in Daccipong Hamlet, Anabanua Village, Barru. This trip is intended to understand the theories that have been learned in class and to see directly objects: rock outcrops in the field. Besides being attended by students who were dominated by students in 2019 batch, they were also accompanied by several practical assistants led by Edi Wahyudi, volunteers and 4 lecturers namely Dr. Muh. Altin Massinai, MT. Surv., Syamsuddin, S.Si., MT., Sabrianto Aswad, S.Si., MT., and Muhammad Fawzy Ismullah M., S.Si., MT. This trip began from the departure from the Hasanuddin University, Tamalanrea campus around 3:00 p.m. on March 29, 2019. On March 30, 2019, all practitioners conduct positioning on the map then walk around the mountain while taking samples of rock outcrops. On March 31, 2019 there will be another practicum at the foot of a different mountain but due to heavy rain it was not carried out and on that day the group returned to Makassar.
